Kelly Hocking (nee Olson) arrived in New Zealand in 2004. The vocal coach, actor and singer hails from the San Francisco Bay Area in California and has worked professionally in both the US and New Zealand.
Based in Dunedin, Kelly teaches voice with an emphasis on technique and performance. She is the first person in New Zealand to obtain the full Level 3 certification in Applied Vocal Pedagogy and Voice Science from AtlasVoice www.singnz.com
Kelly uses historical classical techniques that have been studied and verified as effective by contemporary voice science. She is trained to diagnose vocal faults, guide vocal development and treat the functions of singing that are genre specific.
Kelly coaches CCM (Commercial Contemporary Music) styles which include Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Folk and jazz. She works with professional and amateur singers of all skill levels including singer/songwriters. She is committed to educating students in vocal health and voice science and expanding their range and power.
In addition to private tuition, Kelly runs vocal and performance workshops for schools and community organizations and coordinates vocal workshop weekends with invited international and national experts, coaches and presenters.
